NDIS
National Disability Insurance Scheme
Dear Parents/Carers,
We understand that parents are receiving application forms for the NDIS. At this point in time we are awaiting advice from the Department of Education & Training on how best to support our families in this process. With this in mind, our school cannot provide any new assessments for applications for this scheme. Families are advised to use previous assessments that have been conducted to support their applications.
For further information on the rollout of the NDIS please visit the agency website: www.ndis.gov.au or call on 1800 800 110
School Zone Speed Limits
Children are our most vulnerable road users and to address this road safety issue, school speed zones with lower speed limits were introduced in 2003.
Motorists should be aware that children in traffic are not like adults. They can be unpredictable and because they are small, they can be hard to see. So take extra care and slow down when you drive past any school.
Research shows that slowing down helps to both avoid crashes and reduce their severity. According to the Monash University Accident Research Centre, an 11 per cent reduction in speed reduces road deaths by 40 per cent. Even a small reduction in travelling speed dramatically increases the chance of a child surviving a collision.
We would like to remind all parents/carers and visitors to the school that Old White Hill Road is a 40km/h School Zone and when on school property, to drive at walking pace only. This is in the interest of the safety of everyone in the school community.
Thank you.
